Founded in 1884 by Julius Maggi in Switzerland, Maggi revolutionized instant meals with protein-rich legume soups. Now part of Nestlé, Maggi is renowned worldwide, especially for its instant noodles. In India, Maggi dominates the market with its diverse range, including Maggi 2-Minute Noodles, Maggi Special Masala, and Maggi Nutri-licious varieties. Maggi also offers sauces, cooking aids, and pasta, tailored to meet the preferences of its vast customer base.

Julius Maggi was the founder of Maggi, the company originated in Switzerland in 1884. Julius Maggi inherited a mill from his father and very swiftly evolved it into an industrial food production company with a noble intention to improve the nutritional intake of worker families. Swiss government approached him to prepare a nutritious quick to make meals because more and more people were working outside the homes. As a result of which Julius Maggi successfully introduced two instant pea soups and an instant bean soup. He became the first person to bring protein-rich legume meals to the market in 1986. In 1897, Julius Maggi founded the company Maggi GmbH in Singen, Germany. Nestle took over Maggi’s holding company in 1947 following several changes in its ownership and corporate structure the company is currently known as Nestlé-Alimentana S.A., and known in its francophone home base as Nestlé S.A. 

 

Maggi instant noodles are main item for online grocery which is very famous all around the world and is synonymous with instant noodles in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. Maggie had enjoyed a 90% market share in India before 2015 and now it is reduced to 53% because of tough completion in the instant noodles segment from new Indian brands. In India, Maggi Masala noodles carry a green dot, meaning they are specifically formulated to serve vegetarians. However, Maggi chicken noodles carry a red dot, indicating that they are not vegetarian. This special formulation is not available in other countries unless imported from India.

 

In India Maggi sells its products in mainly five categories namely Noodles, On-The-Go Noodles, Cooking aids, Pazzta and Sauces. Its Noodles category includes Maggi Special Masala, Maggi Hot Heads, Maggi 2-Minute Noodles, Maggi Chicken Noodles, Maggi 2-Minute Noodles No Onion No Garlic, Maggi Nutri-licious Atta Masala Noodles, Maggi Nutri-licious Oats Masala Noodles, Maggi Fusian Hong Kong Spicy Garlic, Maggi Fusain Bangkok Sweet Chili and Maggi Fusian Singapore Tangy Pepper. In its On-The-Go Noodles category it has three variations Maggi Masala Cuppa, Maggi Chicken Cuppa and Maggi Chilly Chow Cuppa. Maggi also has different varieties in cooking aid category Maggi Masala-ae-Magic, Maggi Masala-ae-Magic South Veg Masala and Maggi Bhuna Masala for Gravy Dishes, Dals and Vegetables. In its Pazzta category it has three variants Maggi Pazzta Masala Penne, Maggi Pazzta Cheese Macaroni and Maggi Pazzta Cheesy Tomato Twist. In its Sauces category it has three different varieties Maggi Hot & Sweet Tomato Chilli Sauce, Maggi Rich Tomato Ketchup and Maggi Rich Tomato Sauce (No Onion No Garlic).
